Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

Strange and sad accidents happen every day that sometimes leave us to face an unthinkable fortune. A recent fatality leaves a Monroe family to mourn the loss of a beloved mother, daughter, and friend. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, officers responded to the call of a fatal shooting at Graduate Hotel in Annapolis, MD. Michelle Jordan Cummings, formerly from Monroe, LA, was found just after 12:00 midnight. Police reports allege that Cummings was standing on her hotel balcony when she was struck with a stray bullet from an alleged drive-by shooting. Cummings, her husband Leonard, and son Leonard III were sharing the hotel room and were in town to drop off Leonard III at the United States Naval Academy. Leonard is a football prospect for the academy entering his first year of college. The family had flown in from Houston, TX. To date, police are continuing to investigate the unfortunate tragedy. Michell Jordan Cummings was the daughter of the late Calvin Jordan and Audrey Jordan of Monroe, LA. Please keep the Jordan and Cummings family in your prayers.
