On July 13, 2020, I, former Monroe City Council Kenneth Wilson petitioned Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards to make Juneteenth an official state holiday. I was the only elected official to send this suggestion to the Louisiana Governor. I offer this note as a thank you to those who have trusted in my leadership over the years and during our state's challenging times related to Covid-19.
