ULM TRIO Kierra Colman, Cypress Washington, Treyah Green and De'Angelo Williams

The ULM TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) R.A.M.S recognized senior and mentoring scholars. Participants in attendance were from Richwood, Wossman, and Carroll high schools. Saturday brunch was held at the ULM Activity Center recently. The seniors were recognized for their academic achievement and participation in the mentoring program. The guest speaker, Assistant Professor of Nursing Dr. Ebony Watson addressed the attendees; and several seniors shared their positive experiences about the program. Special attendees include Dr. Davis, Principal Carrol High School, MS Coleman, Richwood High School Counselor, Robotic/ Science teachers Ms. Traylor Wossman High School and Ms. Neal from Carroll High School and MS Grover, Richwood High School Robotic/Science teacher. Also, in attendance were Dr. Pamela Saulsberry, Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer at ULM, Dr. Valarie Fields, ULM Vice-President of Student Affairs, Dr. John Sutherlin, Chief Innovation and Research Officer at ULM.

Rising Above Mediocrity for Success, a mentoring outreach program, under the direction of Mr. Joe Riser, Mr. Tommie Nelson, and MS Brenda Grover, Richwood High School Robotics Teacher. The mentoring program assist participants in grades 9-12 in adjusting to life's challenges. ULM's TRIO Programs community partner, Parks Community Support Service, Inc. awarded scholarship funds and/or trophy awards for senior scholars

Stipends were awarded to the top two male and female with the highest GPA and two more were given individuals with most participation included Zoe Wilson, Curterrius Williams, Lee Dixon, Esmeralda Duenez-Sauceda, Mar'Tanea McGee, Ri'Shante Cooks and Joe Cleveland also pictured are Joe Riser, Tommie Nelson, Ms. Grover, Ms. Traylor, Dr. Caterine Estis, Linda Coleman, Dr. Pamela Saulsberry, Professor Ebony Watson and Dr. Sutherland.

Over 50 high school participants attended the TRIO scholar's brunch and were recognized for their academic success and participation. The group meets regularly at ULM for mentoring activities designed to boost success in school and life, as well the mentoring program as going on enriching field trips to explore museums, historical sites, college campuses, and STEM learning sites. ULM TRIO is proud to support our high school participants. Their success is critical to the mission of ULM and TRIO. TRIO Programs are designed to assist first generation/income eligible students to complete high school prepared and ready to enroll in the college, and graduate with a baccalaureate degree. TRIO Programs are fully funded by the U.S. Department of Education. ULM has three TRIO Programs and Catherine Estis, Ph.D. is the Executive Director of the ULM's TRIO Programs.
