Evoria Darrington Sillers

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelation 2:10 Evoria Darrington Sillers was born in Monroe LA on October 18,1934 to the late Julius and Earnestine Darrington. She exchanged her earthly home for her heavenly home on May 5, 2021. Evoria accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Free Gift Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Reverend B.J. Washington. Later in life, she moved her membership to St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend T. Williams, where she served as President of the motherboard and was a member of the choir. Finally, she moved her membership to St. Luke Baptist Church to be closer to her daughter, Deborah and son-in-law, Reverend Dennis Martin Sr., where she served as a mother and a missionary. Evoria was a graduate of the Monroe Colored High School in Monroe LA. She was a dedicated employee at Fred's in McMillian Mall, Mervyn's Department Store and Stage Department Store for numerous years. Evoria was the second eldest child of 12 siblings. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Reverend Robert Sillers; her father and mother Julius and Earnestine Darrington; her daughter, Earnestine Gardner; two brothers, Julius Darrington Jr. and James Darrington; and her grandson, Terry Wilson. Mourning her departure yet cherishing her memories are: her three daughters, Deborah Martin (Reverend Dennis Martin, Sr.) Monroe LA, Sharon Renee Goudeau(Carl Goudeau) Spring TX, and Michelle Gardner Monroe LA; two sons, Donald Wayne Gardner Monroe LA and Terry Gardner(Cathy Gardner) Baton Rouge LA; five sisters, Elousie Taitague Kirkland WA, Azelia Williams (James) Roseville CA, Hazel Foster of Coppell TX, Herberdine Darrington Monroe LA, Mureen Darrington Sacramento CA, Janice Marie Minor Richmond MN, and Rev. Charlie M. Darrington Sacramento CA; two brothers, Jimmy Darrington and Ricky Darrington Colorado Springs CO; two step-sisters, Gloria Chatman Bastrop LA and Carolyn Griffin Rayville LA; two god-daughters, Janice Williams and Jackie Woods Monroe LA; two god-sons: Floyd Harris and Bruce Edwards, Monroe LA; a special neighbor, Donna Perkins; and her loving pet, Taz; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. Evoria was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She always wore a smile, and never met a stranger. "Though your smiles are gone forever, and your hands we cannot touch, we'll always have sweet memories of the love we have for you so very, very much. We love & miss you Mom!"-Deborah, Renee, Wayne, Terry & Michelle. Visitation is Friday, May 14, 2021 from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Monroe LA Funeral services are Saturday May 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Miracle Center Church 3400 Lee Ave. in Monroe LA.
