In spite of all of the controversy in the media surrounding COVID-19 vaccines, Deloris Hill, who recently celebrated her 94 birthday, insisted to her children that she wanted to take the vaccine. Mrs. Hill, widow of the late J. C. Hill, is a lifetime resident of Monroe, Louisiana. She and her husband were among the first minority small-business owners in Monroe, a dry-cleaning business called "Nu-Way Cleaners", which they operated until their senior years and both enjoyed retirement. They were known as pillars in their immediate neighborhood among all families surrounding their home on Bronson Street. Despite aging, Mrs. Hill is very much in tune with all of the circumstances of the pandemic: social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands and most importantly, the availability of the vaccine. She made up her mind and was determined to get the "shot". She urged her children to see where they could carry her to take care of this matter of urgency to her. However, there were conflicts among the children such as transportation issues and employment schedules. One of the children reached out to Primary Health Services Center to inquire about COVID-19 vaccines for seniors who lived in their own homes. Without hesitancy, Mrs. Catherine Tonore, PHSC CEO said, "We will make special arrangements to go to her and give her the vaccine." When Mrs. Hill heard this news, she was overjoyed and insisted that everyone living in or frequenting her home must also be vaccinated. This arrangement actually became a Bronson Street Event when PHSC arrived and administered vaccines. Without doubt, whether a person elects to take the COVID-19 vaccine or not, is a personal choice. Mrs. Deloris Hill, 94 years young, chose to take hers on Friday, April 30, 2021, and she is extremely grateful to Catherine M. Tonore, CEO of Primary Health Services Center.
