Bronze Star Hero Alfred B. Horne

Alfred B. Horne was born November 15, 1932 to Abraham and Emma Horne in Rayville LA. Horne was a graduate of Rhymes High School in Rayville LA. He earned an A.A. Degree from Sacramento City College. Horne was a member of St. Joe Missionary Baptist Church and America Legion Post 521. His hobbies included fishing, camping and photography. He was married to Cora Jones in 1962 where two children were born to this union Kenneth and Marla. In 1952, Horne joined the US Army serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was an expert marksman on the rifle team retiring in 1973 after 20 years of military service. His military awards /medals Army Commendation, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 1957 High Power Regional Match, Fort Huachuca Expert Class, Rifle and Pistol Class B Musketry Match and 1958 MI Rifle. Horne went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2021. His funeral services are Friday April 23, 2021 at 12pm at St. Joe Missionary Baptist Church in Rhymes LA. Visitation is Thursday April 22, from 11-am until 1pm at Smith Funeral Home in Monroe LA. Burial will be at Northeast LA Veteran's Cemetery in Rayville LA.
