Georgia A. Newman's Treasured Memories

 

Georgia Ann Hurens Newman 79, departed this earthly life for her eternal home on Thursday, March 25, 2021. She will be forever remembered for her love of family and friends. She was an amazing woman who made her presence felt through her kind deeds and helpful spirit as she made deposits into the lives of others. Born to the late Woodrow Sr. and Bernice Hurens in Utica Mississippi, Georgia was the fourth of eight children. She found Christ at an early age. After her move to Detroit Michigan, Georgia worked at Hutzel Women's Hospital. She married Gealie "Buster" Newman and later moved to Monroe Louisiana, where she was a faithful member of Philadelphia Word Center Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gealie "Buster" Newman; her parents, Woodrow Sr. and Bernice Hurens; and her brothers, Woodrow Hurnes Jr. and William Hurens. She is survived by her daughters, Ursula Newman Cain of Grand Prairie, TX and Dana Newman of Monroe, LA; her son, Janis "Jay" Newman of Ruston, LA and four grandchildren. She is also survived by several siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation is at Miller Funeral Home in Monroe LA on Friday, April 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral services are Saturday April 3, 2021 at 11am, at Philadelphia Word Center Church in Monroe LA. Burial services will be at Richwood Memorial Gardens
