Willie Haynes

Willie Haynes was a community servant who was always willing to support people and causes. He was a veteran, mentor, and supporter. He loved people and never meeting a stranger. After meeting or holding a conversation, you could feel Willie;s genuine spirit. Willie made everyone feel special and respected. His gift for gab was what attracted most people. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Willie was a man who loved his family dearly. He found Christ at an early age and became a member of the St. John AME Church. His commitment to service was apparent as he ran for state representative and was a political activist. Willie helped elect numerous political candidates. He served in many capacities for many programs at church and social events, normally as toastmaster or master of ceremony. Willie retired from the Monroe Housing Authority after serving as assistant director for many years. He helped many residents in Monroe with his knowledge and expertise. He was a very likable guy who could draw a crowd. His presence at an event would make it a signature event. Willie went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2021. His memory and achievements will last a lifetime in those who cherished him dearly. Graveside service is at 11:00PM, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Richwood Memorial Gardens, Richwood, LA. Visitation: is 2:00 - 5:00PM, Friday, March 12 at Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
