Parkview Residents' Dignity

Parkview Apartments Monroe LA

There have been mixed emotions displayed by residents in Parkview Apartments about the involvement of law enforcement to assist with finding safety relief for them. Naturally, most of them are elated that there is a possibility that criminal activities including shootings, thefts and drug trafficking will be addressed and ultimately be discontinued at the complex. Some very few residents who voice opinions express fear of retaliation from other residents and criminals if they say too much. This sort of threatening is always going to become an issue, but residents are encouraged to speak out and to seek protection from law enforcement if they feel uncomfortable or threatened. There is an overwhelming desire from residents for persons in the community to stop ridiculing and pointing fingers at them. They feel that community persons are pointing fingers at them for even residing in the apartments. They hate being accused of taking charity and being lazy and unemployed. To have the age-long social and criminal problems brought to light appears to have made the residents become targets for negativity and actual snobbery. These residents want it to be known that they only want protection and safety on the property at which they reside just as anyone living at any other location. By expecting property owners and law enforcement to take care of these problems should not make them subjects of demeaning criticism and ridicule. There are no complaints about the upkeep and the pride shown by the residents in maintaining the apartments to the best of their abilities. If there are housekeeping issues, residents are warned and strictly told of evictions; therefore, residents should be provided safety from external sources. Records show that the criminal activities are not committed by residents which should let the community critics see and know that they are not justified in blaming residents for occurrences that are out of their control. Community critics are urged to look at the facts before making judgments and join in efforts to help raise the morale of mothers and children who live in Parkview Apartments, if not to do anything overtly, at least offer prayers for the residents. Whatever they do, STOP pointing fingers at residents of Parkview Apartments for wanting the same thing that they and any other citizens would want... a decent and safe place to live.
