Law and Grace

December 3, 2020

Grace is the power to forgive and begin anew. It is God’s boundless and undeserved love for man as it is realized in man’s experience (Westall, 1993). Grace is a mode of existence for the Christian. We should synchronize our lives around the grace of God (Evans, 1982). Grace is love in action. James designates it as the royal law (James 2:8). Grace is where God gives you what you don’t deserve. It is where God is good when you are bad. It is where He is kind when you are unkind. It is where He is loving when you don’t deserve to be loved (Evans, 2004). Grace is where God meets you and leads you in the right path (Evans, 2004). L The New Testament Greek word, charis, means grace, and is the original word for blessing. It is Christian grace. There is no equivalent word in the Old Testament. Charis carries the idea of favor, gratitude or goodwill. Grace is the New Testament word for the Greek word, charis. The word grace does not appear in the books of Matthew and Mark. Grace is the heart of the New Testament and is the most distinctive feature of Christian gospel. Conclusion Law condemns the best man. Grace saves the worst man. As the law, Jesus declared, “I came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it.” (Matthew 5:12). Ephesians 2:8-9 say God saves us by His grace WHEN WE BELIEVE. This grace is a gift from God. Grace saves you only when you cease trying to save yourself and entrust yourself to Christ and His finished work on the cross for your sin (Evans, 2004). According to grace, each of us is a spiritual millionaire because God has opened an account for each of us in the Bank of Grace (Evans. 2004). Let us not forget: “man cannot ear grace, man does not deserve grace, and man will never merit grace.” All things in life are possible only by the grace of God. “God’s grace is sufficient.”
