When there are people speaking out and expressing fear for human lives, especially innocent people, time is past due for action to take place at Parkview Apartments.

Some residents are concerned that these apartments appear to be the place for rival shootouts or just a location to settle violent disputes. The origin of the apartments was to provide affordable safe living conditions for underserved residents.

Some persons with criminal intentions have abused the site through the years, causing it to have a reputation that they brought among families trying to live. Innocent residents are tired of hearing gunshots almost every night and fearing for their lives as well as the lives of their loved ones.

Several weeks earlier this month, two teens were involved in a shooting which became deadly at Parkview Apartments. Actually, neither of them was a resident. This is a prime example of how violence occurs by outsiders. This kind of activity has to stop.

Residents are grateful that owners and law enforcement are stepping up in an effort to change this dangerous environment. No one should have to live in a place where they constantly fear for their lives.

There are senior residents who live in Parkview Apartments who are actually afraid to speak out about the dangers they fear and live in. They simply do not want any trouble. Is it as if they are existing in a hostage environment?

The attention of owners and other community people has been aroused enough for positive action to take place. It is true that positive results will not come immediately, but these results will come when forces come together and necessary arrests are made.

Visitors should be screened and eliminated if they are a part of any confusion which may lead to violence.

Parkview residents expect the police officers to be present in the community and let them know that they are there to protect them with mutual respect, children need to know officers are protectors as well as enforcers for those who commit crimes.

Gunshots should not be heard almost every night at Parkview Apartments.
