Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond to serve in the White House

US Congressman Cedric Richmond has been named as a newly selected White House staffer, serving as senior adviser to Biden and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, Richmond held a news conference announcing his new gig. During the Obama administration Valerie Jarrett held the seat he will occupy come 2021. Richmond's successor would be chosen in a special election, at the top of next year.
