Grambling 2020 Commencement Speaker Judge Tammy Lee

Monroe's Judge Tammy Lee took the commencement stage once again at Grambling State University, Thursday, November 22, 2020. This time was different from the first, as the Grambling alumna delivered a captivating commencement speech challenging the university's class of 2020 to "ascend to the next step". Judge Lee understands the challenges many of them faced, experiencing collegiate life during a global pandemic and praised the graduating class for their perseverance. She shared many affirming and encouraging words that motivated the audience and graduates to learn lessons from every experience both good and bad. Judge Lee has served in Monroe as a City Court Judge since 2001. Her career in law began in 1993 when she was selected as the first African-American law clerk for the Fourth Judicial District Court in northeast Louisiana. She was later selected as the city of Monroe's first African-American woman to serve as Prosecutor for the city of Monroe before being elected as City Court Judge. Job well done Judge Tammy Lee! Congratulations to the GSU graduating class of 2020!
