Woodrow Jenkins

Happy Centennial Birthday to Mr. Woodrow Jenkins-- one of Monroe's longtime residents and business owners. Hallelujah, congratulations, and all of the other kudos to you, Mr. Jenkins! You've hit the BIG ONE: 100 Years Young and still going strong! What a blessed privilege -- a momentous occasion -- it is to celebrate a Century of longevity -- the 100th birthday of an incredibly special Monroe giant ever so worthy of this honor! We not only acknowledge but also revere his historical 100th birthday on November 6, 2020. What a magnificent accomplishment -- a blessing sanctioned, signed, sealed and delivered by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Born in 1920, Mr. Jenkins is a native of Sicily Island, LA, but later relocated to Monroe where he has resided most of his life. There he established and operated his own Building Construction business for more than 60 years. But his blessings kept multiplying! On March 10, 1949, he married the love of his life -- the late Rosa Lee Watson of Peck, LA, who owned and operated her own Cosmetology Business -- Rosa's Beauty Shop -- for over 40 years. Their special 54-year marriage would produce four daughters -- Freda and Debra, both of Monroe, LA; Vanessa of Houston, TX; and Zeretha of New York, NY. As a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army, Mr. Jenkins courageously served for 3 years as a member of the 923rd Engineer Aviation Regiment, a special unit designated to work in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force. In this assignment, he participated in and conducted surveillance missions throughout England, France and Germany. After he returned to civilian life in the United States, Mr. Jenkins attended Tuskegee University (formerly Tuskegee Institute) where he graduated in 1949 with a major in Building Construction. Throughout Mr. Jenkins' life, diligence and hard work have, indeed, been true hallmarks of his character and life. He has, however, found some invigorating ways to spend his spare time! A huge sports fan, Mr. Jenkins loves basketball, football, baseball and especially wrestling. He even played basketball during his high school years! But his absolute favorite pastime, however, is hunting! His passion for hunting developed at an early age when he and his father would go hunting together years ago. Even to this very day, Mr. Jenkins remains an avid hunter! In addition, both a deeply religious and spiritual person, Mr. Jenkins regularly reads and studies The Holy Bible. He has faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent at The Liberty Hill Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He loves teaching and, thus, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mr. Jenkins' family loves and cherishes him very much. They, therefore, would like to cordially invite his church members, friends, business associates and professionals, former clients/customers, and tons of well-wishers to help celebrate Mr. Jenkins' 100th birthday party by attending his Drive-By Birthday Bash! It will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1601 Plum Street in Monroe. A private dinner party – – by invitation only – – will take place at a different location immediately following the drive-by party. So, let's celebrate! Here's wishing you a very Blessed Happy 100th Birthday, Mr. Jenkins, and many many more! May God continue to bless, keep, and prosper you as well as grace you with continuous longevity!
