Mrs. Mae Bell Turner Carter

Mrs. Mae Bell Turner Carter was the third child born to the union of Orah Johnson Turner and Sam Turner, Sr. on August 18, 1929 in Delhi LA. She grew up with her seven siblings on the family farm. She was graceful in appearance and delicate in physique; thus, Mrs. Becky Kie Tagger her "Beaut"(Beautiful) while it stuck throughout her life. Mae Bell was very partial to meat and not to heat. Her days in the field were limited. She was relegated to house duty much to the chagrin of her other siblings. Due to her lack of affinity for manual labor, Mae Bell embraced education graduating from high school and then earning a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Grambling College in the early 1950's. She labored in the school system for more than 30 years touching the lives of countless students, many acknowledging her positive impact. Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Delhi LA was her church home her entire life. She taught Sunday School and served as church secretary for more than 30 years. Mae Bell was united in matrimony with Ezekiel Carter in the early 1950's and to that union one child was born. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend who always put family interests first. She was a perfect example of a well lived life. On July 28, 2020 Mae Bell went home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Left to cherish fond memories, one daughter Glenda F. Carter, one niece Barbara A Turner Delhi LA, one sister Mrs. Irene Turner Barneys Jamaica NY, one nephew Van Turner Monroe LA and a host of family and friends. May Belle Turner Carter's graveside services were held Sunday August 2, 2020 at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Delhi LA.
