Will Trump Walk or Be Escorted from Office?

October 1, 2020

Much has been said and continues to be said in the media as to whether President Donald Trump will voluntarily leave the White House on Inaugural Day or will the Secret Service “assist” him out of the door. The Constitution is crystal clear that in January 2021, the newly president elect shall assume the powers of the presidency at noon on that day and whoever is elected shall begin his/her four year reign. That peaceful transfer of power has served the nation well since George Washington’s last day in office as president up until President Barack Obama’s last day in office. Who/what could interfere or undermine a process that has a sterling record of showing the world that dictators do not occupy the White House? Did someone just say, “President Donald Trump?” President Trump has warned the nation/world that he wants to play by his rules when it comes to winning, including the Office of President of the United States. You will remember that Trump warned the nation back in 2015 when he was campaigning against Hillary Clinton that he “might not” accept the results of the election because he felt the election would be “rigged” in Clinton’s favor because he thought that was going to lose. If there is one thing that President Trump hates more than anything else, it is win he loses bigly. The fact that the president lost his famous Trump University lawsuit and had to pony up 25 million dollars speaks volumes about his phobia for losing. With the election a mere month away and with polls showing the president losing to Joe Biden, Mr. Trump is throwing all of his cards on the table, hoping that his “may not leave” ace up his sleeve will save the day. And not just another day to stay in the White House for four more years, but also staying away from a day when federal prosecutors will/may hand him a subpoena. For the president, it is not so much about “making America great again”, but about keeping him and possibly some members of his family from doing time in prison.

But Americans shouldn’t lose any sleep about whether Mr. Trump or Mr. Biden will sit in the Oval Office. If the results of the election points to an overwhelming victory for Biden, that no matter how much Mr. Trump will cry “voter fraud”, he will have to show “convincing, widespread” fraud in the states where he is expected to win. Louisiana is not one of them. We are talking about Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida and yes, even Nevada. Florida may be in the mix but certainly in the Midwest. And we know who he will blame, the Democrats. He might even try to blame Clinton and Obama. Why not? If the election happens to be “very close, 2 points or less” in conservatives’ mind, as 51-49 may not count, the president looks to the Supreme Court hoping that his picks on the bench will do for him what it did for Bush v. Gore in 2000. That election year was a fiasco, one that our leaders told us that it wouldn’t again, because in the years since our system of voting has gotten more sophisticated with modern voting machines, but yet some problems persist. We are assured by each secretary of state that voting machine will be ready for those who will vote in person and even using mail-in balloting. And that is where lies Mr. Trump’s deepest fears. The president has put in the minds of his supporters to “not accept” the outcome of the results because of so called widespread voter fraud and the results will be fake. The president has not offered any compelling evidence on his own, nor has any of the secretaries of each state in the nation done so.

The White House has not expressed any reservations that the president will leave peacefully if he loses, citing that Mr. Trump wants a fair election. And the only way that will happen, is if there are no unsolicited ballots mailed to voters. The president is saying “ask” for a ballot or vote in person. That way, no ineligible person can send in a ballot. The president may have been hoping that his postmaster general pick would “slow down”(more than what he has already done) the return of ballots through the mail delivery system, which is a SERVICE of the postal system to the public and not the president. The president has already sent in his ballot by mail. But perhaps the president forgot that each ballot, as how each person that votes in person, their names will be checked on the official rolls and certified that they are eligible to vote. No president has been escorted unwillingly out of the White House on Inaugural Day. Donald Trump can be the first. After all, Mr. Trump has said that he has done things for the American people that no other president has done. This is one thing that many Americans and the world want to see. The ball is in your court Mr. President. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
