Impatient Customer Pulls Trigger

Police reported that a wait at a local fast food restaurant drive-thru led to fatal shooting that left one worker dead, Saturday, August 1, 2020. Victim, Desmond Joshua Jr., 22, was working at an Burger King drive-thru when orders were backed up due to restrictions set in place to address the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Joshua was confronted by drive-thru patron, Ashley Mason, who became upset about the wait time and became confrontational with Joshua, threatening to call her boyfriend. Joshua refunded Mason $40 and asked her to leave in attempts to de-escalate the issue. Less than ten minutes later Kelvis Rodriguez, 37, appeared at the Burger King with a gun and shot the 22-year-old in the chest. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Rodriguez has been charged with first-degree murder. Sadly, it is reported that Joshua had only started working at the restaurant two days prior to the incident.
