Oliver "Friday" Ellis fulfilled one of his "high hopes" Tuesday(July 21) when he took the oath of office and became the city of Monroe's next mayor. In an ceremony that was limited in size by those who attended because of COVID-19 concerns, the gravity of the event did not go unnoticed, as the city is getting ready to embark on a new journey led by a man who said that he has high hopes for the city that he loves.
