Let me begin this final column by expressing my gratitude to the Monroe Dispatch for affording me the opportunity to share positive columns about the many projects, initiatives, and efforts of the City of Monroe during my term as Mayor.

I want to congratulate Friday Ellis as the next Mayor for Monroe. Also, Congrats to Juanita Woods, Gretchen Ezernack and Kema Dawson as councilmembers for the next four years. These are difficult times and I sincerely wish them well.

I want to thank all of you for your support for 19-years as Mayor and 6-years as city councilman. Although disappointed by the election results, my family and I look forward to the next chapter. God has been good to us and his blessings never waiver.
