AKA 2020 Scholarship Recipients

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated – Omicron Iota Omega Chapter, West Monroe, LA awarded over $ 7,000 in college scholarships to – phenomenal, high scholastic graduating seniors on June 26, 2020. Amidst COVID-19, members of Omicron Iota Omega Chapter recognized the 2020 Scholarship recipients with excellence and elegance.

Fan and fare were the theme for the day. Each recipient enjoyed a celebratory reception at their home while being honored with a scholarship check and commemorative sign for public viewing. These annual scholarships are a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha's commitment to provide service to all mankind, and continuing the legacy of supporting HBCU enrollment.

Three scholarship recipients received scholarships named for Omicron Iota Omega Chapter charter members. All recipients are well-deserving, young ladies who represent academic achievement, community service, and good character.

The scholarship recipients are:

1. Kyla Shanea Wesley - Wossman High School - Dillard University

Irene Mouton Jackson Memorial Scholarship – Charter Member

2. Paige Alycee Howard - West Monroe High School - University of Louisiana at Monroe

Alice Marie Jackson Memorial Scholarship – Charter Member

3. Iyanah Nykol McWain - West Ouachita High School - University of Louisiana at Monroe

Nora Bingaman Taylor Scholarship – Charter Member

4. Victoria Perry Rencher – Ouachita Parish High School – Southern University

5. Serenity Lashae Lee-Perkins – Ouachita Parish High School - McNeese State University Omicron Iota Omega Chapter Scholarship

6. Zoe Grace Jackson - Neville High School - Grambling State University

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January 15, 1908. It is an organization for women with a mission to serve mankind. Omicron Iota Omega Chapter was chartered June 2, 1984 in West Monroe, LA. The current chapter president is Raven N. Owens. The 2020 Scholarship Committee Chairman is LaTrenda Wallace and Co-Chairman is Sharon Natt.
