Family's Incarcerated Son's Concern

A local woman and her family is heartbroken/heartsick as they can’t understand why a loved one is still incarcerated in a Texas correctional center. The mother has not seen her son in years since he was incarcerated, wants to know why her son’s case has taken so long to come to trial. She told The Dispatch that her son went to live in Texas after starting a relationship with a young woman. They had a child, but soon after, things took a turn for the worst. According to the family, a situation happened where officers were called, and the son was subsequently arrested. All these things were unknown to his mother, but she said that she had “a strange feeling” that something wasn’t right in Texas with her son. She would later come to know that her son had been incarcerated and that he’s facing serious charges that the mother said could imprison him for 30-50 years. The son, according to the family has been confined for about three years and not had a trial. In the meantime, the mother has had conversations with her son, but those conversations appear to shed no idea of knowing what her son’s fate will be when there is a trial. The family is in contact with the son’s lawyer, but details about his case have been few, as the mother worries that the longer this saga drags out, the worst things may be.

According to his mother, there have been many setbacks since the son’s arrest. There have been delays, court date changes and times when his lawyer wasn’t available because of “personal” business and other legal matters. But the time away from her son is taking its’ toll on the mother. Her blood pressure has been high, along with other personal issues such as worry and stress. On the day that this reporter interviewed the mother, she cried throughout most of the interview. The mother has only had “very brief” conversations with her son’s lawyer, as he allegedly hasn’t shared much information about her son’s case with her. The fear that her 24-year old son could be imprisoned and away from her for 30-50 years is terrifying for the mother, as she tries to grapple with her situation, but is still keeping faith in God that things will be all right. She is hoping that when this is all over, that her son will be able to come back home and be around his love ones because they all love and miss him so much.
