Modern slavery

The USA makes up 4.5% of the world’s population, and yet holds over 22% of the world’s incarcerated people. Not only are those incarcerated overwhelmingly Black and Brown, but they are also in a system that effectively treats them as modern slave labor -- trapped and exploited to make a profit for private industries.
