Ouachita Parish Police Jury President Shane Smiley held a press conference, Wednesday, May 13, 3030, announcing that a COVID-19 mobile self-testing unit will be stationed in Ouachita Parish. "Governor John Bel Edwards and the state of Louisiana recognized the need for more testing in rural and underserved areas, and they are going to offer this testing throughout Region 8," said Police Jury President Smiley. Region 8 is made up of 12 parishes, including Ouachita Parish. Free self-tests will be offered, May 18 - June 12, 2020, 8:00-11:00 AM each day. The mobile testing site will be monitored by National Guard medics who will be there to help with self-tests if needed. More info, including the mobile self-testing locations and schedule, will be shared through social media and news media. You must be 18 years old or older to get tested.
