Living in A New Home

Lizzie Marshall Jackson

by Gwendolyn Dickson

Tribute to Lizzie Marshall Jackson-Sometimes, there just are not any answers. But, what I do know is that God sees each tear, feels every hurt and understands our need to ask "Why?" Because of His love for us, we trust that in time His comfort and peace will come. God gives us trials but He has promised His protection if we believe and trust in Him. Through all trials, we cast our cares on Him. Lizzie was born on September 29, 1930 in Richland Parish to the parents of Frank and Mattie Marshall. Her parents were blessed to have 26 children. She was the last of the Marshall Crew. Our faithful servant was called to her eternal reward on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. She attended elementary school in Richland Parish. She was an honor graduate of Class 1947 of Eula D. Britton High School Rayville LA. After graduation, she courted and later married Allen "Woot" Jackson. To this union, they had 8 children: Fraternal twins, Milton and Mildred; Alma Jean, Allen Ray, Larry, Gwendolyn, Dexter and Stephanie. Lizzie was an active member of the Bright Oak Baptist Church Monroe LA. She was a dedicated and devoted Sunday School Teacher and Mother of the Church. As a former Sunday school student, I can recall my Mom telling her class, Enter to Learn and Depart to Serve. At Bright Oak, she held high flaming torch for 60 or more years and kept the fires of progress burning. For many years, she was the secretary of the Eastern Star. She had the opportunity to help save many youth lives. Mrs. Jackson served in various ministries through evangelism, mission board and Sunday school. She was a mother to all of the children on Cooper Street. She spent 33 years as a retired cook at Northeast Louisiana University. Her belief, the values I leave children are more important than valuables left to them. Mom best gift of all was the example of faith. Her favorite scripture, Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrew 11:1) She believed that if you put your faith in yourself, in money or other things of this world, you will not receive the blessing God promise. He says, "I will bless the person who puts his trust in me." My tribute to Mrs. Lizzie Marshall Jackson is in gratitude to God for the gift of her life and for the sacrifices she made to help me to become "ALL That I Am."

My Mom gave her best to the Master,

The best that her life could afford,

He said - Well done, my faithful servant,

Now enter the joy of the Lord.
