John Efrem "Jay" Wilson

John Efrem "Jay" Wilson of Hagerstown, MD, formerly of Monroe, LA, was born September 16, 1992 on the island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. He passed on Monday, March 23, 2020 in Ranson, West Virginia. Jay, as he was affectionately called graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA in 2011. He took classes at Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) but did not complete his course of study. He was active in the JROTC program at Ouachita. Jay loved sports and was active in football and basketball during his high school years. While he attended LDCC, he participated in the Anime Club. At the time of his passing, he was employed as the Lead Certified Martial Arts Instructor at the Tiger Rock Martial Arts Academy in Hagerstown, MD. Jay previously worked at Tiger Rock Martial Arts Academies in Monroe, Shreveport, and Columbia, LA. Office Depot and Brookshires were also among the varied places Jay was employed in Monroe.

Jay loved his family. He will be remembered as an outgoing people person, who you could always count on to make you smile. He was a devoted son and was always ready and willing to help anyone at anytime, anywhere. This is what he was doing when he died Monday. Jay is survived by his parents, Sergeant Major John (US Army Retired) and Angela Wilson of Monroe, LA; siblings: Demetria Wilson of Atlanta, GA, Regina Cumberbatch (Jean) of Barbados, Phillip Jackson of Monroe, LA, Alexandria Jackson of Buffalo, NY, Nicole Sedon (John) of Plains, PA, Joy Taylor (Jameel) of Columbus, GA, Justin Wilson of Monroe, LA; grandmother, Esme Layne of Barbados; aunts Leona Pointer of Chicago, IL, Bessie Ford (Robert) of Memphis, TN, Cynthia Halverson (Daniel), of Portland, OR, Claudette Layne of Armonk, NY, and Lavonda Layne & Fadelma of Barbados; uncles Randolph Archer, Alfred Layne, Reynold Layne (Jacquelyn) of Barbados; nieces Johnora, Marcia, Isia, & Johanna Bacchus of Atlanta GA, Kenya Marshall of Barbados, McKenzie & Victoria Jackson of Buffalo, NY, Maya Taylor of Columbus, GA; nephews Josiah Bacchus of Atlanta, GA, Akeem Marshall England, Dakota Adams of Plains, PA; Godparents Cleon Armstrong of Barbados, Juan & Joanne Cruz of Lakeland, FL; a host of relatives, Eddie, Carroll, Hill, Loring, Archer, Marshall, Small Families, and so many special family and friends too numerous to mention. Visitation is Wednesday, April 1, 2020 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Richardson Funeral Chapel for colleagues and friends. Funeral services are Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe, LA for the family.
