Derrica Lakeisha Davis Green

A Monroe woman who was traveling to Farmerville LA was killed in a fiery crash that happened in Sterlington Friday night (Jan.31). Darrica Davis' vehicle, a 2014 Cadillac was struck by Glenn Minor, 20 at the intersection of Hwy. 165 and Hwy 2 in Sterlington LA. According to law enforcement authorities. Minor did not stop at the traffic light, striking Davis as she was turning left onto Hwy 2 causing her vehicle to overturn where it burst into flames. Davis, tragically died at the scene. Minor, according to media reports taken to an area hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash. Minor, according to sources allegedly had "vehicle and criminal issues" at the time of the crash. The family is handling Darrica's death with heavy hearts as they fondly remember the life that she lived.

Danielle Green, one of five sisters said that Lakeisha (Darrica) was pregnant at the time, which is doubly hard on the family. She said that Lakeisha was "a dedicated mother" to her three children, and loved her sisters, mother and father, Cornelia Green and Daryl Conway just as much. She also was raised by her stepfather Dennis Reed. She was 37. At the time of her death, Darrica was working on receiving a counselor's license to work with women suffering from substance abuse. Green said that she "had a good life" ahead, as they plan funeral arrangements for Darrica. Green said that Darrica was a "God fearing women", having being raised in St. Timothy B.C. and St. Peter B.C. singing in the choir, directed by her mother who was the director. Darrica's favorite's church song was "No Weapon" sang by Fred Hammond. As a youth, Darrica played basketball for Carroll Jr. and Carroll High School. She also played at Thomas Jefferson Jr. High and Wossman High.

Green also said that Darrica "was a mentor" to her and her cousins. Green said that Darrica loved to "go camouflaged" from her head to her feet. She would be "soldier down" because her favorite rapper was Soldier Slim. But, Green said, that Darrica's death hits even harder is because, another family member was killed in one of Monroe's most infamous homicides. Many residents of the city no doubt remember the tragic Mother's Day weekend murders where several people, caught in the crossfire from two rival individuals, lost their lives. One of the persons killed was Florica Green, Danielle's cousin. Please pray for the Green family.
