Political …Contenders orand Pretenders

We have always heard that strange things happen in politics. That expression has proved to be true repeatedly. Politics can influence strong changes among people. Many people lose friendships over political differences. Organizations become distant in philosophies due to political preferences. Some people decide to enter the pollical arena for various reasons. Some enter because they firmly believe in something; some enter politics because the lifestyle of a politician appears to be quite exciting and glamorous. The motivation of other people will often vary. Unfortunately, some people are in politics because they are being paid money to “split” the vote. You may observe that some people simply run for almost any office because they have decided that they want to be in politics. They have no special background or preparation for a position in a public office. They just want to be…Of course, those serious political candidates really want to gain the position to make a meaningful difference in the community in which they live. They may be considered as “Contenders”. Those others who are not serious about the position, at least for the right reasons, may be considered as “Pretenders”. You can always identify Contenders because they persistently continue to run for the same identical position each time they run for an office. Whereas, Pretenders run for any office that becomes available without showing any consistency in the purpose of the position. Look at the existing candidates and see if you can identify the Contenders and Pretenders on the list. Naturally, there are newcomers to the political arena, so we will have wait until another election takes place to determine their categories. When you go to the poll to vote, before you pull the lever, decide if you want to invest your future in a Contender or a Pretender.
