Words Matter

Just for the record, Nancy Pelosi is not dumb. Pelosi didn't get to be the second most powerful person in the U.S. by being dumb. As Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has tremendous clout, and she uses it very effectively, unlike the last two Republican Speakers, John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Their own party ran them both out of Washington. That's because as leader of the House, Pelosi is the one individual who controls(legislation) what comes out of the House, she calls the shots and has the votes to pass legislation. President Trump can't get any legislation passed for him to sign unless it comes through Nancy Pelosi. That's is where the real power is, as the Legislative Branch of the government acts, and the president reacts. Another example is when the nation goes to a war (where there is a declaration), the president must come to the House and Senate for "permission" (consent) to wage a war. The House also controls the purse strings. Nancy Pelosi is not be well liked publicly by her political contemporaries because of the way that she conducts business, meaning that she doesn't back down. But of all the things that she has been called by President Trump and other conservatives, she has not been called "dumb". That is until Louisiana Senator John Kennedy appeared at a Trump rally in Monroe LA. What are we teaching our children?

Standing beside President Trump, Kennedy said that Pelosi is "trying to impeach the president". He said, "I don't mean any disrespect, but it must suck to be that dumb", referring to the Speaker. Of course, the crowd cheered. When words that uplift, inspire, encourage people to do/be their best despite any obstacles that they may face, or when they have achieved a certain level of success and continue to press forward, Kennedy's words will be nowhere to be found. It was disrespectful to someone who "has paid her dues" to be where she is now in American history. When the senator made the remark, was he hinting that Pelosi is "intellectually challenged" by saying that she must be dumb? The word dumb has many meanings, none of which did the senator use to clarify exactly what he meant. There was a time when we used to say about those that couldn't hear and speak, as being "deaf and dumb". So, what did Senator Kennedy mean? Was it a joke? No, because the senator would double down on his comments, saying the process against the president "is rigged". That's the same word that President Trump uses to tell his base, that if he loses next year's presidential election, it will be rigged. Ever notice that when the president makes accusatory statements, he never back them up with any evidence? Now here is a senator who may have to cast a vote to remove the president has clearly shown his bias, even though a trial hasn't yet begun, or any evidence produced. Who's doing the rigging?

But Senator Kennedy by calling Nancy Pelosi "dumb" insulted women everywhere, not just in Congress. Yes, politics is a nasty business at times and people say things that never should be said, especially when they are given time to go over the thought process of what it is that they are going to say. Once the words leave your mouth, you can't take them back. Politicians of all people, know this because they are supposed to serve/lead by example. Mr. Kennedy and those in Congress who are trying to give the president a free pass over his own admitted actions, should not attack the process, but give sound LEGAL arguments, not sound bites as to where Democrats are violating ANY LAWS depriving the president of his due process. They won't. Grandstanding is all that's left for them to do before charges are brought before the Senate. If the process is so unfair, where is the Attorney General? Why has he not called for an investigation into Joe Biden and his son Hunter? Because, just as in the Hillary Clinton Benghazi and email "scandal", there was no evidence "there-there". All that is left for Republicans to do is what Senator Kennedy just did, which is to attack the process and call names. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
